Reiki Healing is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin under which the term Rei means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki implies “life force energy” together form the word Reiki. In simple terms, Reiki is “spiritually guided life force energy.” It is a naive, natural and safe method for stress reduction and relaxation that also aids healing. It is practiced by laying hands directly or indirectly on the body to stimulate the natural healing abilities of the body. This form of the healing session is based on the concept that an obscure “life force energy” flows through us what causes us to be alive.
Energy healing practitioners target the energy fields and channel positive energy into the body using this technique. According to many practitioners, any physical injury or perhaps emotional pain can cause energy to stagnate in the body. In time, these energy blocks may breed illness. In order to improve the energy flow around the body and remove blocks, reiki healing therapy is performed.
Reiki masters and practitioners typically lay their hands on the affected areas of the body that need a boost, contributing positive energy into the body. Thus, enabling relaxation, lessening pain, speeding healing, and overcoming other symptoms of illness. This form of healing therapy is commonly referred to as ‘palm healing’ or ‘hands-on healing’.
Reiki is non-invasive and considered to be safe. It doesn’t have any adverse effects, moreover, it is not meant to substitute any doctor-approved medication plan as it works parallelly with conventional medical care. People with past trauma might feel uncomfortable in the presence of someone (practitioner).
Reiki sessions can be carried out anywhere and with/without music as per the recipient’s choice. During the session, the fully clothed recipient is made to sit on a chair or lie on a bed as per his/her comfort. The practitioner then places his/ her hands on or slightly above, over specific areas of the body thus transferring energy to the recipient. During the process, the practitioner’s hands may feel warm & tingling while he continues so until he/she senses the energy has stopped flowing. Once the energy in their hands has abated, they remove their hands or change the position to benefit the other areas.
